@BBCSimonJack Simon, that’s how the book finishes and I think it’s wonderful, I loved the book, watched the film on Friday and it was stunning. The book is indeed like 2 stories and that’s what makes it brilliant, you think it’s all about saving the world then it becomes this whole other thing

Hail Mary Project. What a weird film. One of the most bizarre endings I’ve ever seen capped a strange mix of two different films - both pretty awful. And yet Ryan Gosling managed somehow to rise above it all and deliver a really likeable performance. How the team behind this film thought that was the right ending is beyond me.

You ever read a book and you’re like “holy shit this is my favorite book” and then they make a movie of it and you’re like “I hope they don’t screw it up” and then the movie comes out and you’re like “holy shit they didn’t screw it up and this is one of my favorite movies ever”?
