@DanKornas I strongly disagree. All algorithms are useful. It depends on the data and on the type of problems. Those you listed are useful for the simpler tasks but others can prove much more powerful in many cases

There are thousands of machine learning algorithms available, yet most of them are useless. A handful is all you'll ever need. A nice starting point: • Linear/Logistic Regression • Decision Trees • Neural Networks • XGBoost • Naive Bayes • PCA • KNN • SVM • t-SNE

With the advent of edge computing -- stuff like Cloudflare Workers, wasmer, etc -- I'd be curious to see if science gateways (esp astro) start to move away from SQL-based queries.
