I’m preparing myself for the next phase of my cancer journey - surgery. One week from today, on March 29, I’ll be getting a double mastectomy and implant-based reconstruction. I have so many feelings about this part of the process and I’m not sure how to put them all in words.

This is 36. I never expected to be fighting for my life this year. I didn’t think I would be bald and losing my eyebrows and eyelashes. I have learned to find beauty in other parts of of me. I have learned to appreciate life and loved ones much more than ever before.

Completed Half Ironman at Shanghai. Great location, course, and weather. Had a pleasant overall experience except minor inconvenience due to language and limited food choices (venue was 2 hrs drive north of Shanghai airport). Bonus: met EPIC-5 finisher Gaurav Makkar.
