Once more details come out, we all need to ask serious questions about continuing to do business with OpenAI.

for the time being i'm gonna put a pause on my @initialcommitco experiment. built three full, well-tested, feature-rich apps over the past 6 weeks and barely made $10k. i generally think there is a market for these sort of "business in a box" things, but i think the timing is tough due to the MASSIVE hype around being able to build anything with AI. i think the hype is justified, but i also think the pendulum will swing back a bit as people realize how there's more to building well-designed, stable software than just a few prompts. still throwing around the idea of turning this into a dutch auction marketplace that others can list on as well as potentially using it in the future for my own stuff. just not committing to creating apps for the sole purpose of selling them every few weeks.

🔌 ActiveRecord now checks connections in and out per query instead of per request. This article breaks down the overhead, the benchmarks, and the practical workaround. #Rails codewithrails.com/blog/rails-72-…

AI app development didn’t need to get this complicated. We’ve been sold two lies: • You need complex agent frameworks • You must use official provider SDKs LLMs are just APIs for us. Abstract them well and Ruby-level productivity returns. Keynote 👇 youtu.be/y535u1EWqAg?si…

i'm productizing my ability to ship new products faster than anyone you know. initialcommit.co will be doing monthly "business-in-a-box" drops as well as offering an MVP service where i'll build your idea in 1 week.

This might be obvious but in a vibe coding world, where the amount of websites/apps is going to 100x, the value of a high quality dot com or dot ai goes way up

@typeangled This is awesome! I’ve always been curious about recruitment. How’d you get started with that?

Two years ago, I left my full-time job and started taking on contract development work, eventually incorporating my software consultancy. What began with Rails app development has now grown to include website building and software recruiting services. This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful to all the clients who have trusted me over the past two years and given me the opportunity to work on their projects. Your trust in me meant a lot on day one, and it still means just as much today. Thank you!

Deployed my first app via @flydotio ! The estimated cost of web service + postgres + object storage (AWS S3 via @TigrisData ) is ~$6/mo. Great CLI experience: "fly deploy" feels as good as "git push heroku master"

@yarotheslav @heroku You try fly.io yet? I’m playing with it. Less than $5/mo for my stupid-simple Rails CRUD app. It’s pleasantly Heroku-ish

Letting Puma auto-set your worker count is the easiest way to go for 90% of usecases. Currently, you can only do that with WEB_CONCURRENCY=auto, but we'll also make this possible in the next puma version by using `workers :auto` in your puma.rb.
