@highland_andy Just need to find a camera to put them in now! There was a long list of wildlife also lurking there including 2 squirrels a sparrowhawk and red grouse.

@markhamblin Amazing what you find at the bottom of a freezer. Mrs H found a dead squirrel in ours, I’d forgotten to tell her I’d put it there! 🤦🏻😂

Farmed salmon are bathed in the organophosphate 'Azamethiphos' to kill sealice. It is then released into the sea. It is a; 'mutagen, neurotoxicant + acetyl cholinesterase inhibitor, its highly toxic to birds + aquatic invertebrates, + moderately toxic to fish.'☠️ #Offthetable

Why do many of our European neighbours love their #wildflowers and #verges yet in Wales and UK we all too often decimate them? Wildflowers are left to grow by paths and verges in Switzerland. Full of bees and crickets. We need total mind shift in UK to back what we've lost.

Nice to see the gorse I grew from seed a few years ago flowering for the first time. Gorse is a great ‘nursery’ for young trees protecting them from grazers and browsers. At the moment I’m using tree guards but once the gorse is big enough I’ll be able to plant trees within it.

@alabanach1001 @CameronMcNeish Depends on your definition of wild! Monocultures of heather, heavily grazed treeless landscapes and non native plantations are certainly not wild. When you refer to ‘outsiders’ do you mean all those people living in Scotland who have signed the charter?

I’ve signed the Rewilding Nation Charter and joined the call for 30% of Scotland’s land and seas to be committed to rewilding, for the benefit of nature, climate and people. Will you add your voice?: bptemrf5lmf.typeform.com/rewildingnation

Nature degradation could cost the UK 12% of its GDP - MORE than the financial crash or COVID-19

1/3 Right now this Isle of Man scallop dredger is legally ploughing up and down in the sound of Jura. It and two others are at it day and night, filling their boots before the seasonal closure starts on the 1st of April. The damage they cause can take decades to recover.

Scotland's tiny population of wild boar – or 'feral pigs' – generates significant debate. Some people feel they create damage; others value their ecological role. Meanwhile, Europeans live alongside millions of boar. Read on for a Big Picture perspective: scotlandbigpicture.com/photo-stories/…
