@cybercaturday Hey, the performance is generally good but there is definitely work that Facepunch can do to improve their engine (they are aware of this)! s&box is designed for more modern systems so you'll want a GPU that can atleast support Vulkan 1.2.
English

@matekdev hey i have a question about sbox. i wishlisted your game btw i love the concept and i hope it does well! I just wanted to know how the performance is on sbox and what specs you’re have for the development of my summer cottage?

@matt57609068 @gabefollower I've personally only played My Summer Car for a few minutes. One of our team members is Finnish and a huge fan of it though. I'd describe our game as like Postal meets Stardew Valley.
English

@Xuffy0904 @gabefollower You can get access to s&box for free on their website. It may be the case that they end up giving it out for free if you did this. Otherwise, as long as you own s&box you'll be able to export games for free.
English

@matekdev @gabefollower Is s&box itself technically free if I have the developer preview in my library? Or do I need to get a license to develop a game that I will sell on steam?
English

@popmanbrad @gabefollower s&box is like any other game engine. However, you have the choice to either publish your game to their platform or you can export it as a standalone game.
English

@matekdev @gabefollower Yeah how does it work exactly? Like is it a standalone game made inside sandbox that you could just export or like is it a mod for sandbox and you need sandbox to play it etc
English

@RedSantar @gabefollower It's extremely similar to Unity. You basically get all the good parts of Unity without the decades of technical debt.
English

@matekdev @gabefollower how convenient s&box is in comparison with other game engines like Unity or Unreal?
English

@Tyretes @gabefollower Our game was created using s&box! Which is Facepunch's game engine that is based on Source 2.
English

@gabefollower does that mean that game was created on source2 branch by facepunch.
English

@nickenshit @gabefollower We plan on putting an initial demo version of the game very soon on s&box. We have an older version from a gamejam but it was done in a month an extremely broken!
English

@gabefollower is there gonna be something like "play the demo on s&box and purchase the full game on steam" or how will that work
English

@JPowersArtist @gabefollower It's extremely similar to Unity. You basically get all the good parts of Unity without the decades of technical debt.
English

@matekdev @gabefollower Not sure what your engine background is, but what's the learning curve compared to engines like Unity or Unreal? I'm using Unity for a project, so the C# aspect is appealing to me. Is it like using Source?
English

@Iker_da_Pena @gabefollower Not at the current moment. Join our discord and we'll make a post next time we are looking for new members.
English

@Kaanakell @GirlWith_5Names @gabefollower I've been working on this project for the last year and Facepunch have made zero API breaking changes. The majority happened earlier in the s&box development cycle.
English

@GirlWith_5Names @matekdev @gabefollower It's early access engine so somethings are gonna change constantly, functions, libraries etc. everything can be change when next update drops so go in knowing that
English

@_ricktheprick @gabefollower You can check out the tutorials that we have on the Small Fish channel. However, documentation is really sparse at the moment if you are a complete beginner. I learned just by viewing the Facepunch docs, reference material, and intellisense.
English

@matekdev @gabefollower hi, i want to learn s&box and make games with s&box instead of unity etc.. do you know where to start or what to watch to learn s&box
English

@AFCayde @gabefollower Facepunch has already started paying out hundreds of thousands of dollars to games on their platform. The platform is also quite small right now so it's extremely easy to attract players.
English

@matekdev @gabefollower I feel like the monetary appeal for developers will be too great and they'll end up releasing their game as standalone.
English

@RubyJackATL @gabefollower I don't eat and program otherwise my keyboard would end up disgusting.

@matekdev @gabefollower What's your favorite snack/drink while working?
