@JohanKamilTM True, the second decision to separate only emerges after the first phase, when first is done well, the second follows for a good player -- still there are cases when players can predict the emergence of space, but here Saka's movement shows that's not the case, imo
English

@midfield227 The methodology suggests that first, efforts should be made to provide support, and after understanding the situation, to initiate the acquisition process if possible. The first sub-phase allows for the introduction of the Saka marker into a broad channel, and then to separate🧠
English

'made him feel safe before attacking blindside' - if this sentence was intended to mean in its literal sense, that's not a good judgement
here, saka was getting near the ball to support him,but as soon as ball carrier got decent control over the ball, nearby player(saka) will look
Fathalli@FathalliMo
Can’t emphasize how good this movement from Saka was. Robinson checks his shoulders 4 times, Saka waits until he reaches the edge of the box & quickly changes direction & speed right after the 4th check. Made him feel safe before attacking the blindside.
English

@saundzo I dont know if @FathalliMo meant this, but sometimes analysis tends to connect everything. after seeing the final outcome (goal), people try to reverse engineer the analysis to make everything connected, very common here. I strongly disagree to that and that's why I tweeted
English

@saundzo yeah,at the very last moment,Saka made that decision reading both Robinson and ball, but the first run wasn't intentionally done to make this happen.Saka just wanted to support the ball carrier, and he then spotted a opportunity-that's how players think as per my understanding
English

@coachryanjones @saundzo sudden change of direction using ankle, once ball is chopped using ankle, the follow through carries it in the same trajectory--basically gliding the ball using ankle

Masia mastery:
shifting/changing direction through the ankle to prep for an instant next touch
Once you see it you’ll see it everywhere

@FathalliMo true, from Robinson's POV,it makes sense. a typical concentration lapse from a recovering defender to lose his man, staying touch tight could have helped
Saka was just reacting to the space he noticed, recognising space in mirco seconds, thats what stood out for me.
English

That wasn’t meant literally. We can’t read a player’s mind and know his exact intent.
Perhaps the wording wasnt it, but this was more from Robinson’s POV.
Keeps seeing Saka as a “safe” option everytime he scans until the last moment without reading the box, which is imo, why he decided to try and put pressure on the ball.
English

@saundzo be thrown forward,so that dribbler can more chance of avoiding the trailing leg. It should be a balance btw feint and ankle shift, have seen dribblers spamming ankle shifts, like they have mastered it,but wont work unless you can let the defender move past you to a certain bit
English

KEY detail: watch the defender here dangle the leg to their near-maximum reach
If the attacker makes a normal feint->touch combo they give opportunity for the defender to poke/reach the ball
But an ankle shift keeps the ball out of reach + quick next touch. So underutilised
.@saundzo
Shifting through the ankle — can make 2 touches in 1 step — can create a new angle immediately — using the surface of boot furthest from opp’

@DJ_PRIDE01 This isn't claiming United is a perfect team, just explaining their intentions and it doesn't work wonders every time, that's true

@midfield227 All this analysis to get only 4 shots in 90 mins and only 1 on target with a poor possession. What about you show Chelsea’s?
