I am heartbroken over the passing of a civil rights hero: Clarence B. Jones, who served as counsel and close confidant to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a co-organizer of the March on Washington, and a co-writer of the immortal “I Have a Dream” speech. Clarence Jones is one of the greatest heroes I will ever meet. To have known a moral giant on whose shoulders so many of us stand is a gift from God that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Dr. Jones not only practiced law. He transformed it. And we are all better for it. May his memory be a blessing.

Putin’s attack - including a hypersonic missile - was designed to terrorize and kill civilians. Pure evil. Now, even with its advance stopped, Moscow’s desire to invade Europe remains. Deterrence requires the West to impose costs on Russian military and dual use infrastructure. The people and leaders of Ukraine are defending their nation’s sovereignty.  All of Europe should support them, and American sovereignty benefits from Ukrainian security and victory as well.

Today is Memorial Day in America – a day of national respect for each and every person who defended America and freedom in uniform. Without the United States, there simply would have been no European freedom – and the 20th century proved this absolutely clearly. Now Russia’s full-scale war is not only against Ukraine, but also against the very format of such a Europe – a free, democratic, united Europe. It is Euro-Atlantic unity that has been, and remains, the foundation of the world’s economic and, in many respects, social development after World War II. Ukraine is grateful to the United States for supporting our defense and to all compassionate American hearts that continue to support Ukraine. This war must be ended – and ended in a dignified way. And America’s role in this – America, which Russia fears – truly can be one of leadership: in supporting our defense of life here and our ability, later on, to help defend life for other nations, those who truly need it. Thank you, America!

Jason changed lives through his courage, authenticity, and commitment to helping others feel seen. His legacy extends far beyond basketball. He helped move sports and society forward with strength.

We share our heartfelt condolences with his loved ones and all who were impacted by his life and leadership.

Tonight, in our living room, memory became personal. @orenbenyosef and I were honored to host a Zikaron BaSalon gathering in our home, marking Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. We listened to Ida Paluch Kersz, who survived as a child hidden by a Polish family, growing up unaware of her Jewish identity. After the war, she rebuilt her life first in Israel and later in Chicago and, decades later, was reunited with her twin brother after 52 years apart. Her story is one of loss. Of identity. Of resilience. It is a story we now carry with us. At a time of rising antisemitism, remembrance matters more than ever. We remember. And we carry that responsibility with us. 🇮🇱🇺🇸🕯️
