This month would’ve been my father’s 88th bday. Lost him to cancer days before my 21st. Barely coped then. Tim got me out of that rut. Wouldn’t be where I am now without his love over past 17 yrs. Tim showed me that managing life’s struggles with a smile was the only way forward.

@sjh5000 Really enjoyed the 6 days in the office before working from home again…. But yes, love the teaching, camaraderie, exposure to interesting research outside my field. It’s a rich and special life.

@sjh5000 I went back into academia in Mar 2020. Wasn’t going for any academic job: specifically Northumbria Uni because of amazing people there. Had been working from home, self-employed for 5 years but going in to uni about once a fortnight to collaborate and got a buzz from those days.

Big question: why do you work in academia?
