@RebeccaLobo Kids need to learn to work together in a zone defense, yes. They also need to play man-to-man to strengthen their individual skills. Student athletes need to have a repertoire of strategies & a strong coach like yourself to call the right play. Versatile teams go the farthest.

I coach five youth teams, boys and girls, spanning grades 4-8. We’ve played a dozen games. We’ve not faced a single possession of man-to-man defense. Is zone the best way to prepare our kids for high school basketball, or just the easy way out?
