‘“The Hands” moves from the slightly mysterious to the downright sinister’ - Anna Aslanyan reviews Paris Fantastique by @nicholasroyle for @TheTLS

@Kerry2001 @Confingo Thank you so much, Kerry. I’ve only just seen this.
English

Excited to have received @nicholasroyle ‘s new collection AND three beautiful photos from @Confingo Congratulations, Nick.

English

@CivicLilly1 What a lovely thing to say. Here’s the Picador collection photographed just for you this morning.

English

@nicholasroyle I was looking for a photo of your Picador collection, and spent ages looking through your photos under the "media" tab.
This is the closest I will get to an art gallery visit this week, and it was most enjoyable.
Is one allowed to say "Thank you for existing"? 😊

@alexlarman @djtaylorwriter @TheSpectator I think I have all the old white spine Picador Doctorows in all variant jackets. Couple of great stories in Lives of the Poets.
English

@djtaylorwriter @TheSpectator I have it already, complete with Picador homage spine! One for @nicholasroyle…

Always pleased to write for @TheSpectator and hospitable @alexlarman

Couple of clues in Everyman crossword in new @ObserverUK repeated from last week. 1 down & 16 down 🤔

English

I suggest to @IKEAUK that that comma should be an ellipsis. Or even a dash. Or nothing. Anything but a comma.

English

@alexlarman @spectator Ah shame. I’ve read it now, thanks to a friend having a subscription. I’d love to write a response about the many wonderful Oxfam Bookshops I’ve visited while researching my books about collecting second-hand books, White Spines and Shadow Lines.
English

@nicholasroyle @spectator Alas I think it’s online only, Nicholas.
English

I wrote this for @spectator about why Oxfam’s bookshops have driven the second-hand trade out of business. spectator.co.uk/article/the-pr… I worried I may have been too harsh, but judging by the messages from bookshop owners I’ve received, I didn’t go anywhere near far enough.
English

@amwilson_opera @alexlarman Alexandra, yes, some have gone, but many remain & new secondhand bookshops are opening. I’m going to buy the Spectator & read Alex’s article.
English

Like @alexlarman, I frequent that particular branch of Oxfam Books regularly, but he's right: almost all other second-hand bookshops have disappeared.
