It's common for so-called backend devs to look down on front end devs. I don't understand this. A browser is its own operating system. You have to support multiple OSs with an untyped LISP and be somewhat performant at the same time. Front end dev is most definitely real dev.

Abby and I have a lot in common. We both are successful engineers in AWS. Both of us care a lot about the quality of what we do and the impact it has on the world. Both of us feel lucky to get paid to do something we love. Neither of us does tech stuff in our free time.

@bradfitz I kind of feel like they should have deviated from standard practice and added a negative leap second - even though it's not scientifically called for. I mean, if you have the power to shorten 2020, and you don't do it, how do you explain that to your grandkids?
