@patrickwitty @Christ_Groyper Yeah I didn’t take it like that. I think you’re just approaching fine art astrophotography from a photojournalism standpoint when those two things follow very different rules. I’m always happy to explain my process to anyone asking in good faith! 🙌

Here’s the raw video of the moment of the jump if you missed it on the initial thread. Hopefully helps dispel claims of ai lol. The final shot was a photomosaic of stacked images, which is why it’s so high resolution (and why the aircraft was no longer visible).

@Christ_Groyper @AJamesMcCarthy I write about photography, so I ask questions. Hardly berating, or accusatory. Just seeking clarity on what “real” means these days. I got my answer.

@AJamesMcCarthy Of course he flew out of the frame, as did the jumper. However, the “moment” you chose to include of the jumper would have shown the paramotor - there wasn’t time for it to clear the frame.

@patrickwitty He did fly out of frame. He wasn’t “edited out”, he wasn’t in the frame when the portion of the sun where he would have been was captured.

@AJamesMcCarthy @johnkrausphotos Stacking in astrophotography, I get it, totally hear ya. But did you remove the paramotor glider thing? Having watched the video and seen the fuller, uncropped version (which is killer btw), seems unlikely it would have cleared the frame that quickly.

@patrickwitty @johnkrausphotos If I'm allowed to be pedantic here, often times *not* post processing makes the image less real, since we both know that things like sensor noise and optical/atmospheric aberrations are not real features of the sun, and the processing is to eliminate those effects.

@AJamesMcCarthy @johnkrausphotos Fascinating work, truly. Big congrats. Yes, I saw the video, and clearly the jump happened but all the work you did in post makes me question the use of the word “real.” Nitpicky, I know. Still important though.
