Here is a new, UNCENSORED image of 3I/ATLAS taken by the Very Large Telescope at a high 0.025 arcseconds per pixel resolution (the best yet). Their original image is shown in slide 1, while slides 2, 3 and 4 show enhanced (or inverted) versions that I made using Photoshop, to study certain details. What can we learn from these new images? First, slides 2 and 3 show off-color "rays" pointing OUT from 3I/ATLAS TOWARD the Sun, in certain parts of its gaseous coma (made mostly of "blue" carbon dioxide). They say that nickel and cyanide are also being released, but I am not sure what those "red" and "green" ray-colors might mean in terms of atomic spectra? For slide 4, I inverted the image to see how "small" I might be able to make its central, white/black spherical region? Not very small! It remains large and spherical, no matter how much I "brighten the shadows". We can also see in slide 4 (the INVERTED image) a thin layer of "red" or "blue" colors, just outside of its central sphere. While a "light blue" region points FORWARD toward the Sun, like a "mirror" or "headlight". In summary, 3I/ATLAS seems to be a large, round, shiny object which may be emitting its own light in all directions, and ALSO reflecting light forward to the right, as it approaches the Sun. If it were just reflecting the Sun's light, we would see a "bright crescent" shape like for Venus or the Moon. Slide 3 (with true colors) does show that forward-reflected light is "orange-yellow" with a crescent shape, due to light from our Sun. The rest of its large, central sphere seems to be uniformly bright-white or black (when inverted), just as if it might be emitting its own light (as Avi Loeb has postulated). If any expert s who are reading this post would like to identify those small "colored" regions of slides 2, 3 and 4, in terms of atomic spectrum, or make other insightful comments, we would be grateful.
