I feel like non-dysphoric trans men should look a little deeper. Do you really lack dysphoria or are you just so disconned from your body that you don't register it? Or have you suppressed it out of fear of what would happen if you went beyond a social transition?

@deserve33335285 @BekerFisher (i say this to mean there was no reason to "test" me or whatever in case it looks like it doesnt have much to do with the subject, i've been living as a guy since i was 13 and these experiences happened at 16-17, so 3-4 years after social transition)

@deserve33335285 @BekerFisher the therapists in question all met me thinking i was a c1s male (my name in like the system of the clinic i went to was my actual name not my deadname) and therefore knew i lived as a guy already and had been for years at that point

@Cherrycanndy yea i know lmao i do have an endo now and he's great, just took years of searching to find him. once again im not saying give up on the medical system forever just that people shouldnt let it hold them back

@reallynormaIguy Maybe, but in that same breath, it isn’t helpful rhetoric or worth repeating the fear mongering of the medical system for trans people. Not every provider is great, but some are and if you have the resources available to afford those providers, you should.

@Cherrycanndy i just dont think this is helpfull rhetoric or worth repeating over and over in every single discussion about diy at a time where trans people are losing acess to healthcare more and more and doctors frequently misdose us

@reallynormaIguy Yeah and this person didn’t disagree with that. Yes the medical system can be fucked sometimes but when you’re changing how your body fundamentally functions, the medical system should be your first step if possible.

@deserve33335285 @BekerFisher yes its ok if people struggle with doubt and im not arguing against therapy, but you're speaking as if thats the universal experience and figuring out if you need hrt or not is super complicated and can only be known for sure after therapy, which is not the case

@Cherrycanndy no one's saying that you should never ever see a doctor or do any research before you diy. its about how if you do not have acess to good doctors that doesnt have to stop you from transitioning

@reallynormaIguy Nowhere in saying that you should go to the doctor to have checkups while taking body altering medication for personal safety is the claim made that DIY hrt is evil and the medical route is the only way to be trans. You’re altering your hormone levels not taking a vitamin.

@deserve33335285 @BekerFisher man the whole point is about how often times people cannot "consult doctors first" or are not treated well when they try and how that shouldn't stop people from having acess to life medication

@reallynormaIguy @BekerFisher I never said don't diy, you can 100% do that after therapy, just like I'm gonna do because I cannot buy tes in my city, the problem is doing it without consulting doctors first, it may have worked good for you but for others let's just say it could go very wrong

@deserve33335285 @BekerFisher if you cannot be truly sure of who you are without someone else telling you then yes it might be a you a problem. i do believe that gender dysphoria is necessary for being trans but i knew i had it long before i ever talked to a doctor about it

@deserve33335285 @BekerFisher i started hrt after 7 years of knowing i needed it and only managed to finally do it through diy. i never needed to hear "dont rush it" i needed acess to medical care
