Tomorrow marks 10th anniversary of signing of HF 215. Shout out to the thousands of IA teacher leaders supported by this law's funding over the past decade. Passed 40-10 in the senate and 95-0 in the House after 4 months of debate and was signed by Gov Branstad at DSM North HS.

Important new research. Iowa has the nation's second largest superintendent gender gap. Our supt. program at Drake is ~50/50 male/female (which is great!) but as this study shows, the issue is deeper. In Iowa, 76% of teachers are female but only 44% of principals & 15% of supts.

@ryanmwise I miss you as our director! You did great work for kids and teachers. The essay is spot on. If I had years left to teach I would look to leave Iowa. My daughter is going in to education and I will encourage her to look out of Iowa.
