Incarcerated people in Canada are often denied access to books. Read @sinclair_les's #NMA24-winning feature on how prison librarians and formerly incarcerated people are working to change that: buff.ly/4aXjFrJ (@thismagazine) #NMAReadingList

Forcing incarcerated people to work jobs which are often menial and sometimes dangerous for pennies an hour—without basic labour or safety protections—ultimately costs the public far more than it benefits us #canpoli #canlab #prisonlabour broadview.org/prison-labour-…

Canada follows the US' lead by using prison labour to respond to climate emergencies. Exploiting incarcerated people doesn’t protect public safety. They deserve full labour rights—and Canadians deserve real climate solutions #climatecrisis #prisonlabor canada.ca/en/correctiona…

Councillor Mike Colle wants to stop moving forward with the beltline gap connections project, which included bi-directional bike lanes and *no* lane removals. Which filled a gap in the network of the Beltline and Marlee ave. He advocated for it last year at committee.

“Jane Doe,” a mother of four and a grandmother, on why she would report an alleged sexual assault involving four Windsor Spitfires players after 41 years: “The trauma gets buried, put on a back burner, put in a suitcase. There are other things more pressing, right? A lot of women do this. Everything is more important than them… I know that there are so many people out there who haven't reported their sexual assaults. So, if I can be their voice and if I can help be a part of a change, I’m glad to do that.”
TSN Hockey@TSNHockey

A woman referred to as “Jane Doe” in court documents has filed a $3.75 million lawsuit alleging she was sexually assaulted by four unnamed former Windsor Spitfires players at a house party in the spring of 1984. Full story from @rwesthead: tsn.ca/ohl-chl-four-w…

Revisit Anthony Bourdain’s 1999 essay about working in Manhattan restaurants. “Gastronomy is the science of pain,” he writes. “It was the unsavory side of professional cooking that attracted me to it in the first place.” nyer.cm/yekJ6Ce
