Following a technical incident, Skyguide temporarily closed the Geneva airspace as a precautionary measure. The airspace is now operating at 80 percent of capacity again, and this measure will be maintained for 24 hours. Skyguide regrets the inconvenience this precautionary measure has caused for partners and passengers.

UPDATE: The capacity restrictions on transit traffic have been lifted with immediate effect. Skyguide is also operating normally again for arrivals and departures. Safety in Swiss airspace was guaranteed at all times.

Swiss air navigation service provider Skyguide has also been affected by the global IT disruption since this morning. As an immediate precautionary measure, the air navigation service provider has reduced the capacity of Swiss transit traffic by 30 per cent. At the request of Zurich Airport, Skyguide does not accept further approaches at this time. This does not affect flights that are already in the air. Skyguide is currently operating without restrictions at Geneva Airport. Corporate IT is also partially affected. Safety in Swiss airspace is guaranteed.

UPDATE #2: After flooding in the basement of the Swiss air traffic control centre in Geneva, the cooling system has been back in operation since the early hours of this morning. Capacity increased to 70 % since 10.00 in the morning. This applies until further notice.

UPDATE: Operations in Geneva airspace resumed at 0:30, capacity reduced by 50 % until further notice. The situation is being continuously monitored and assessed.

Geneva airspace closed due to failure of cooling system after flooding in the basement. No take-offs or landings can take place. Skyguide is working intensively on a solution to restore the cooling of the data centre and regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and airlines
