Most people approach this question with the assumption that the United States winning the Cold War was inevitable. It was not. In 1974, it was a 50-50 proposition, at best.
If America had lost, it would be in precisely the same isolated position the Russian Federation is right now.
Though he was totally in the right and had the goods on the system bringing him down, fighting it meant destabilizing the entire American political apparatus in a moment when the existence of the country was in great peril.
He fell on the sword to preserve America instead of being personally vindicated, which makes his presidency all the more the more heroic.
In this house, Richard Nixon is a hero, end of story.

When I was first becoming a Christian, it was a sermon by Voddie Baucham on YouTube that explained to me the doctrines of grace in a way that I could understand. It's a moment I'll never forget.
Then I learned Voddie's story.
I made this reel to remind myself and others what God can do. He can deliver us from nothing, and so we owe Him everything. Even the air in our lungs, which He can take away in an instant.
I wouldn't be the man I am without Voddie's wisdom and voice. I'm devastated to continue on without him and to have never gotten the chance to thank him.
But now Voddie has earned his eternal reward for all he's done for me and so many others.
Glory to God. And thank you, brother. ✝️
