The responses to this video and earlier discussion on a separate tweet show me what I’ve noticed for a while:
Myself and @grantcohn are two of few people who talk about the 49ers, who have the ability to think critically and creatively.
If you don’t constantly carry the Niners jockstrap and slurp the team, you’re a hater and you chase clickbait.
My goal with every show and piece of content I do is to check these boxes: be informative, insightful, entertaining, thought provoking and back up opinions and analysis with the why. The best sports broadcasters I grew up watching and still watch do that at a high level.
And fittingly, I said at the start of the video “I know this isn’t how the internet works, but I encourage you to listen to this video and read this post.” Of course people choose outrage and hate about sports opinions over having a legitimate discussion, which is hilarious.

Is Nick Sirianni a better coach than Kyle Shanahan? Would the 49ers have made the playoffs if Sirianni was the head coach? @grantcohn brought this up and I think it’s a very interesting take and debate. I think culture setters at HC are sometimes harder to find than play callers. You can be a great player caller, but can you manage the game, build a culture, hire a quality staff and develop players? Nick Sirianni deserves credit for that, even though Howie Roseman is a great GM. He is 47-20 in four seasons. That’s the highest winning percentage among active coaches. That doesn’t just happen because of talent. 49ers fans discredit Sirianni because of his personality, how he carries himself, the Big Dom - Dre Greenlaw incident, but at the end of the day, that has nothing to do with his coaching. Can’t wait to see the responses here, but Sirianni has won double digit games in three straight seasons, with 13+ wins in 2022 and 2024. 🏈
