@MartinSLewis have you noticed a drop in car insurance this year? In 2022 I insured my car for £360; last year it nearly doubled. Now the renewal quote is £200 less!! No change in car/circumstance #ripoff #insurance

At futures they don’t have many lines people anyway. But I think it will be a while before all futures have elc. Challengers will follow the main tour in a few years; so maybe by then they may have addressed the issue of back up lines people. It is a concern though
Ralph@Rumba8888

@therqtstringer @_markpetchey Challengers & futures aren’t going to pay for dozens of lines people to come in every day to just sit around in case there’s a problem.

@Rumba8888 @_markpetchey At any tournament that has elc there is a back up team of lines people ready to step in if needed.

@_markpetchey The issue is that no tech is infallible. If there’s a glitch/system crash etc.. at a futures or challenger, what happens? Even if the event could afford a full time IT person to be onsite all week, it could still take hours to sort & then do umpires call lines?..

Genuinely interested how close tennis is to having elc for all events from the futures up? Because, and I could be wrong but calling lines in Sunderland seems to just have got a whole less appealing if you don’t have the carrot of a Wimbledon date to do it each year. How is there not an immediate exodus of linespeople and perhaps more pertinently, how do you entice anyone into the industry of manually calling lines?

@scambers73 Different string set up; and Novak uses a dampener while Carlos does not. Tension less of an impact on sound

One thing you really notice sitting on court is the difference in the sound the players’ serves are making. Alcaraz is more like a crack, Djokovic more of a dull sound. (String tension may have something to do with it)

@GregRusedski1 @VasekPospisil All pre-Wimbledon grass tournaments use the same Slazenger ball that is used at Wimbledon. I think the same happens in Australia. Don’t think it happens for RG and US. Should be mandatory that all tournaments preceding a GS should use that same ball as that GS.

@VasekPospisil The main issue is having one ball throughout the year with the same felt, pressure and weight. Very easy solution to stop injuries. Same discussion even when I was playing 30 years ago . Nothing changes. Problem is that tournaments have different ball sponsors.

There were discussions a few years back that the ATP/WTA wanted to “slow the game down” to have longer points for fans. The balls have been getting incrementally heavier and surprise surprise, it’s killing our bodies. Almost every player I’ve spoken to.. [1/2]

Those balls are used at every preceding grass court tournament; even those not in the UK
Tennishead@tennishead

The @Wimbledon balls are famous because they are made by a brand, Slazenger, that doesn't appear at any other tournament. New balls are used every 7 games and the used balls are sold to the spectators with the proceeds going to charity #ShotOnOPPO @oppo

And of course remembering to place the stencil so the ‘fat’ part of the ‘D’ is at the bottom ie not upside down. But also, what if the butt cap is also upside down a la @jamie_murray? Easy, always follow the paint of the racquet.
Framework Sports@FrameworkSports

🎾🖌 Attention racket stringers! Want to stencil your Dunlop racket like a pro? Remember to stencil the 'Flying D' the correct way around. Pro tip: the Dunlop logo on the butt cap indicates the way to stencil the logo on the strings. #DunlopTennis #StringingTips #RacketStencil

Another one for tennis aficionados: I saw the other day that Adrian Mannarino plays with a string tension of about 11kgs (24lbs). If I did that, I'd hit the ball out of the stadium.....anyone know of any players who played with looser strings than that?

3rd tyre popped, no doubt a 3rd wheel and 2nd recovery bill in the space of 3 weeks thanks to @BucksCouncil disgraceful roads. Cost me over £1600 in damage and your best solution is to log it and wait 12 weeks for a reply to my 1st claim, let alone 2nd SORT THE POT HOLES!!
