"Complementarianism" is a big word aimed to dress-up an unacceptable concept with respectability. Like describing war-crimes as "collateral damage".

I think @bethallisonbarr is right here. Some male pastors try to make their view more palatable by telling me they are “soft complementarians,” but if you think only men can lead it’s not equality whether you’re soft about it or not.

@debbiesilvester My unexpected stay is at Gladstone. Although not on the original holiday itinerary (which no longer exists) its quite nice. There is a nice view of the largest power station in Queensland.

@debbiesilvester I am also in an apartment (with my long-suffering wife), who has also already tested positive. I guess we are all making the best of it.

@ColetteBoskovic @Hutton_Lab @DeplazesEvelyne @ChemistryNathan Good comments. I think its good to come up with constructive ideas and not blame bcec, Raci, others or ourselves. This has certainly been an instructive experience (and costly) and many of us now have a week to think about it.
English

@Hutton_Lab @DeplazesEvelyne @thinknut @ChemistryNathan Actually, I did enquire with BCEC about steps taken since COVID, they did enhance the filtration, but not the airflow.
But they say they are compliant with QLD government regulations - so it is up to the regulators to sort this out for employees and visitors

Alright! It's been long enough. Did you catch COVID at #RACI2022?
English

@ColetteBoskovic @DeplazesEvelyne @ChemistryNathan When the music was turned up at the conference dinner maskless people continued their conversations by shouting at each other. That may partially explain the subsequent covid cases.

@DeplazesEvelyne @thinknut @ChemistryNathan How about a venue with ramped up ventilation, HEPA filters, CO2 monitors around for people to check, maximal use of outdoor space (eg for conference dinner) & well spread out posters? Won't mean zero COVID, but would surely be an improvement.

Meeting in person is extremely valuable. And I am not averse to risk - I drove to RACI22 from interstate! I tried to minimise that risk by sharing driving, taking breaks, seatbelt. With ?20% of attendees infected; I think more could possibly have been done re: Covid at RACI2022.

@Hutton_Lab @DeplazesEvelyne @thinknut @ChemistryNathan @PalliThordarson - how about @RACInational leading the way with a policy on minimum ventilation standards & airborne mitigation for #OzChem meetings?

@MikeCarlton01 @TheGoodGuysAU We ordered on oven from the Good Guys and a delivery and installation were scheduled. When the appointed day arrived the oven did not turn up. It wasnt even in the country.

Avoiding Harvey Norman, I’m trying to buy a washing machine from @TheGoodGuysAU. FMD, shit service. It’d be easier doing a moon landing.

I think its great that there are a few rich people out there who want to address some of the injustice and inequality in the world. Unfortunately, most of the Australian millionaires refuse to even hand back job-keeper.

@michaelfrost6 Some Americans think that everyone else in the world wants to be American. What I cannot understand is the number of Australian "Christians" and churches that want to be just like America, and in particular idolise Donald Trump.
English

This is not a joke. Here’s Dr James Dobson agreeing with former Congressman Bob McEwen that there were two great events in world history: Jesus dying on the cross for our sins, and America being born as an independent nation. Repeat: this is not a joke.

@michaelfrost6 Sadly these words are regularly actioned differently in our churches: sing a boppy song with meaningless words; teach a lesson of sexism or hatred; tell a story of how God gives us blessings; pray for more blessings; then provide insights on good Conservative right-wing values.

When your emissions reduction minister pumps up one of Australia's largest fossil fuel companies at a global conference for tackling climate change, and lets them be centrepiece of your nation's display... Looks like the Simpsons predicted the future again! #COP26 #auspol
