No the problem is with AI “art” assets IN THE FINAL GAME. No one cares if they are using it for placeholders or experimenting concepts with it. Again I have to repeat this, the GenAI parts of the game are shitty placeholders in the background and not even most of it. Just a few select pieces. EVERYTHING good abt the game isn’t AI. So why defend this? Why not ask for some better art and animation for the billboards? Was the AI Dvorcak animation your fav part of the game or something? It’s just toxic positivity

They only used it in the background and as placeholders very likely to be replaced. Why defend this shit? The rest of the game, the parts people like are all NON-AI. First, if you enjoy the game, that's perfectly fine. I do think that the intense criticism is deserved, the had interviews that were straight up lies about their genAI use and that's incredibly disingenuous towards their players. The things you listed are nice, BUT: that's the standard. Every gacha game has real singers for projects or trailers, artists for official artwork and content creator networks. That's the bare minimum. I don't think that this really is an argument, because they could also have commissioned these artist for: - the ingame billboards - or for animating that one cartoon tv clip which would be even cooler to flex. But instead, they used a tool that is meant to deprive artists of their job opportunities to get those done. At the end of the day, if they made the mistake to visibly show genAI use, what if that's just the stuff they forgot to hide? What if a lot of other stuff, like story, character design and animations are also based on genAI? The problem is that this blatent visible presentation of these few cases already plants a seed of distrust, especially since these games want a lot of your time (and money). I also enjoyed the gameplay, I like this city setting a lot. But I just don't feel like they respect me as a player, if they tell me that they won't include genAI in their work and then put it in a QUEST.

I personally think the hate NTE gets is undeserved It's a great game. Yes it has AI generated content but leading to the release they have been doing : - They hired real singers for their Trailer's , music production etc. - They comissioned a big number of artists and Cosplayers to promote the game - They have a Content Creator program to support atists, streamer and YouTube content Creator. I think NTE should be remebered and regarded as one of the most beautiful and interesdting gacha games out there. I will keep playing it 🤷‍♂️

So I played NTE today on stream and I have some thoughts. A couple people in my chat were pointing out that there was gen-ai usage in the game. I am VERY against gen-ai and have voiced that for years, on stream, off stream, to friends and colleagues. My opinion on it will not change. I say this to point out, I really enjoy this game's story, setting, characters and the animations that have been created for a unique feel to gacha games as a whole. When i looked into it further, its been stated that they used gen-ai for poster placeholders, and random atmospheric images to figure out how they wanted the game to feel that were meant to be replaced upon launch. There is also a random animation video circling around that I personally haven't found verification for in game or in posts. I want to love this game. And I want to play it without the possibility of there being gen-ai. I really want to enjoy what the artists and devs have worked so hard on. But I also want to hold companies accountable when they cut corners. It is unfair to gamers and it's unfair to artists when gen-ai is used considering the amount of theft that is behind it. Gen-ai is unethical no matter how you look at it. Its sadly very much everywhere and we don't want it. IF ITS BEING USED IT NEEDS TO BE DISCLOSED TO THE PEOPLE PLAYING IT.
