The Shadow Chancellor is wrong.
The North Sea is going to shed another ~45,000 jobs by 2035. More drilling will make absolutely no difference to that.
This entire pearl-clutching exercise is entirely about serving the fossil fuel industry, not the people of Britain.

@timchap @dorfman_p The reason you don’t like the comparison with Brexit is that you know it is accurate. If there is licence and employment revenue to be had that could be used to accelerate our move to renewables then not taking it must be an ideological rather than a commercial decision
