We celebrate when outsiders invest in our communities and side-eye when one of our own does the same thing. We’re loud about history... quiet about habits. Poverty already isolates us. Then we add pride on top. Perfect trap. We’ll unite quickly for music, football and funerals. But not for ownership, that part stays individual. We’re experts at spotting racism... terrible at spotting jealousy among ourselves. Until black people face the truths about how we pull each other down, we'll remain complainers who blame the system. We should stop pulling another brother down. The system doesn’t fear our anger. It fears our coordination. Guess which one we practice daily.
