i take low dose T because i’m intersex and doctors don’t know what to do with my body, hormones or gender experiences, so like i ‘get it’ but like. this doesn’t contradict anything i said

Low dose T was excruciating to navigate pre 2013 because most of the doctors even in major cities like NYC Philadelphia Chicago San Francisco LA Portland were using the same cookie cutter standards of care - .50ml 200mg or .25 to stop cycles then .50 at 6 months I’ve never been on much more than.25 but after a few years looked indistinguishable from binary trans men on full doses and 15 years in am now mostly unclockable. I know the same is true for other genderqueer folks and even nonbinary people on T “obvious” effects is relative

@gally420 can’t see a connection between the tgirls who were seen as fags pre transition because they were weak and weird due to unconventional masculinity and then the ones who were fags because they were weak and weird due to being gay.

@gally420 my experiences as a gay intersex man who used to be seen as a sexual halfling failing at both genders is that the nerds and gay guys got along well or were at least cordial because they understand each other as being ‘not really boys’ and it’s amazing that some trans women-

@pissbugs it’s insane that i hear a story like this primarily from people going to clinics that advertise themselves as being trans friendly (ie planned parenthood). i got the best care re: endocrinology at a place centered around aging adults and diabetes where they were mostly-

also i’d like to discuss the seedier side of bodybuilding where everyone engages in some form of fetish/sex work whether it be that they’re posing and wrestling with paying clients or fully just having sex with them. bodybuilding is my weird special interest

@woundjob This is a great take, the most wholesome and effective body builders I know are deeply thoughtful people who respond to their body's needs and regulate its wants. Submission in the actual service and care sense on top of submitting to society's desires (similar to bimbo culture)

anyway, on this topic, it’s still incredible that if you talk about hormones to the average person, trans or cis, they don’t know anything and it’s trans/intersex people who are putting forward the effort to get it right.

having to strong arm their doctors into going to a different dose at their own discretion because they (didn’t) want something but the doctors had next to no understanding and were using what amounts to nonbinary propaganda made by transphobic cis people

@twinkhoncreole they were able to exist as nb outside of clinics but like. having to erase yourself to see the doctor every few months is fucking dismal.

this is part of why a lot of people had an easier time getting low dose T when informed consent was first introduced because it didn’t give as intense of changes and was basically what they were giving women with menopause anyway

we’re really about to be back in the 1960s re: lgbt people in the public eye because testosterone cream and pills are being advertised through subscriptions for (aging) women with hormonal imbalances. some trans men used to get on T through that method.

@twinkhoncreole i knew several nonbinary people in the 2010s who outwardly identified as binary trans wo(men) so they could access transition healthcare because doctors didn’t get ‘why’ they wanted hormones or surgery if they’re nonbinary. it was bleak.

@torturefuntime its honestly more like endocrinologists and the medical establishment appropriated parts of nonbinary ideology to try and temper it because people freely transitioning and fucking with their hormones to change their sex is a threat to the social order
