Real love disorders the eat boundaries between longing and annihilation, makes surrender feel ecstatic, introduces a sweetness so extreme it begins to resemble danger. You understand why poets keep reaching for death language when they speak of devotion. There is something profound in the desire that wants to end the separateness, and the psyche can barely distinguish between union and obliteration at that intensity.

The word kāfٍ conveys the meaning of sufficiency, protection, support, and care. It encompasses all that a servant needs—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. When a person has Allah ﷻ on their side, they are not in need of anyone else. This is the essence of tawakkul—placing one’s trust fully in Allah ﷻ. When a believer recognizes that Allah ﷻ is sufficient, it transforms how they perceive the world. Fear diminishes, anxiety subsides, and reliance becomes anchored in the One who controls all affairs. As has been beautifully expressed: “Yes, indeed. So what can scare him when Allah ﷻ is with him? What can generate any feeling of fear in him after he has taken the position of a servant of Allah ﷻ and fulfilled the responsibilities that such a position confers? Who can doubt Allah’s sufficiency for His servants when He is the Almighty who holds sway over all His creation?” This is not a theoretical concept—it is a lived reality. The one who truly internalizes this will find a deep sense of security and contentment, even in the midst of difficulty.
