I recently signed Ghana’s 11th bilateral debt restructuring agreement, this time with EXIM India. We are moving steadily towards a low risk of debt distress, with clear indicators that the worst is behind us. Our commitment is firm: to honour all restructured obligations on time and to keep debt sustainability at the core of every financing decision going forward. Ghana will not return to a path of unsustainable borrowing. As part of this reset, Government will introduce a new Loans Act to strictly define the use of borrowed funds, ensuring that every loan is tied to high-impact, value-for-money investments. Our guiding principle is simple: whatever we borrow must be worth it and must deliver tangible benefits to the Ghanaian people.

Folks, I have taken notice of the wave of criticisms against my person in the last 24 hours. To clarify, this was simply a kind gesture to a fellow human being, in line with my daily and life-long custom of lending a helping hand to people in need. I sincerely thought that I was doing this act of kindness in private, and never imagined that same could find its way into the public space. That is unfortunate and regrettable. I must say that, I understand the uproar that this gesture has generated, particularly from comrades who are sincerely hurt by same. To all such comrades, I AM SINCERELY SORRY for this unfortunate act of indiscretion. I respect and appreciate your views. My profound appreciation goes to all those who have reached out to counsel and encourage me. I’m most grateful for your solidarity. Let me state however, that my view of public office as a privilege to serve society, solve problems and help others, has not changed. I remain focused on the task entrusted to me by His Excellency, the President for the development of our country. Stay blessed and have a blissful Sunday. Why has a colossal GHS60million been transferred to the Office of the President for so-called “Special Operations” with just a few days left for President Akufo-Addo to hand over? From unimpeachable tracking, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia tax-guzzling presidency received the GHS60million transfer on 23rd December, 2024 at 4:38pm. Profligate President Akufo-Addo must explain to Ghanaians why his “Special Operations” in the death of his tenure should be prioritized over crippling arrears at WAEC, CHASS, CETAG, Free SHS Secretariat, IPPs, NaBCo etc. It’s most depressing that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government seems hell-bent on emptying the national coffers on extremely questionable and wasteful expenditures before the Mahama administration takes over. Moving forward, Ghana needs to urgently consider new legislation on controlling ostentatious expenditure, fresh dubious contracts and mass recruitments during transitions.

My attention has been drawn to the violent activities of some unscrupulous military personnel, deployed to cause mayhem and disrupt the declaration of parliamentary results in some constituencies. This is to caution the personnel involved that they will be held individually liable and responsible for their actions.

A most welcome statement from the US Secretary of State. Those misguided unpatriotic elements who think they can instigate violence, rig elections and subvert the will of the Ghanaian people only to escape with their families to other countries are very likely to rethink.
