Today is the 19th anniversary of our release as an Open Source project. It's also WiX v4 release day. Feels like getting two birthdays in one day.

WiX v6.0.0 is now available. Update your .wixproj files, load up the WiX CLI package on your favorite build machine, and update the .NET tool installation if you have one. And if you make money using WiX, take note of the new Open Source Maintenance Fee. firegiant.com/blog/2025/4/7/…

The .NET Foundation failed to renew the WiX Toolset's certificate. This broke our first attempt at the official release of WiX v6.0.0. We are now switching to FireGiant's certificate infrastructure to no longer depend on the .NET Foundation for this and future builds of WiX.

WiX v6.0.0-rc.1, the first release candidate of the second release of our annual release cadence, is now available. Download it, use it—it's an easy job to switch from WiX v4 and WiX v5—and report any bugs you discover. blog.www-firegiant-com.pages.dev/blog/2025/2/12…

Possibly lost in the website refresh was a blog post reminding everyone that WiX v3 (and WiX v4) are out of community service. firegiant.com/blog/2025/2/6/… Extended support is available from us at FireGiant for those who need more time to upgrade.

@gcaughey The @wixtoolset has since WiX v4 too.

I disabled the WiX Toolset GitHub Discussions to stop a spam attack. I've reported the issue to GitHub. After they delete the ~750 spam messages, I'll re-enable Discussions. buff.ly/3WO6qq3

WiX v4.0.1 is a bug fix only release out exactly 2 months after v4.0 was released.

20,000+ installs of the WiX v4.0 SDK in 2 months. Pretty good start... and we _are_ just getting started.
