Two of my seniors from BHU had been dating since their school days. They were from the same school, same district, same religion, and even the same caste.
They had been in a relationship for 8–9 years and were considered one of the best couples in their batch-fully committed, loyal, and deeply dedicated to each other. Didi even supported him financially at times. Bhaiya used to admire didi as his greatest blessing. He often said his life had been shaped as much by her as by his parents.
This year, the guy got selected in a PSU and secured a Grade-A job. And guess what-within just 2–3 months of getting the job, he started telling didi, “Please get a job, otherwise my family won’t allow me to marry you. My family is getting good dowry offers, but I still want to marry you, so at least get a government job.”
Maybe bhaiya doesn’t think he is wrong, but didi is now extremely anxious. She is unable to sleep properly, and bhaiya has become so busy these days that he talks to her only once every 2–3 days.
I feel sad for didi.
