Elon admits the human disengaged Autopilot 4 seconds before the crash. Well yeah…if you’re about to crash due to Autopilot making a critical mistake, you’re going to naturally slam on the brakes which disengages Autopilot\Full Self-Driving.

This person didn’t slam on the brakes though. If they would have slammed on the brakes, they would have been able to come to a complete stop in that amount of time. If you slam on the brakes going 70mph in a cybertruck, you would stop in 176ft. A vehicle traveling 70mph travels 400ft in 4 seconds. Plenty of time to stop.

@MissJilianne You either disengage FSD way too early, or way too late. 😆 If you disengage way too early, they go: FSD would havr handled that with ease. If you disengage way too late, they go: FSD is supervised, driver failed . 🤣

Cybertrucks don’t have autopilot and of all the people you understand the difference between traffic aware cruise control and FSD It does not appear that she had FSD engaged based on the data an comments from Tesla We all know you are mad at Tesla but please don’t continue to spread lies about a system that actually saves lives If she was really using FSD and she was supervising the system like she was supposed to be doing this a accident would not have happen unless there was major failure of HW4 chip As a supervisor, you need to make sure that the vehicle is in the right drive mode for the condition don’t drive with Mad Max in an unsafe area when I have my children with me I leave it in sloth mode, just in case I have to turn around and take my eyes off the road to deal with them The truth will come out, but until then let’s not jump on the Dan O’Dowd bandwagon of banning FSD.

@MissJilianne You clearly don't have a Tesla, in that instant you're not gonna be able to tell if auto pilot is gonna make a mistake on a term it's a sharp right turn with cones. If she slammed on the brakes, a car would've shown it in the video.

Tell me you don't know how long 4 seconds is, without telling me. If she had applied the break fully, from 60mph the Cybertruck would have been at a full stop in 2.86 seconds. Leaving a full 1.25 for peeing ones pants. (2 × distance) / initial velocity = (2 × 126) / 88 ≈ 2.86 seconds.

@MissJilianne Interesting, because 4 seconds happens to be how long a Cybertruck takes to go from 70 to 0 MPH. Sounds like she didn't think it was enough of an emergency to hit the brakes, instead she just disengaged Autopilot.

@MissJilianne Until Tesla accepts full liability for autopilot and “FSD” you’re still responsible. Never trust the computer fully. Trust your gut. It’s one reason I’m not sold on using it or paying for the privilege of baby sitting the car.

@MissJilianne This is going to be an interesting case study. I low key hope it goes to court. Tesla will have to prove the driver panicked with the driver's case being the collision was imminent. Tesla has to figure out a way to prove this in court or face similar style actions

@MissJilianne 4 seconds is an eternity. Disengaement also comes with the responsibility of taking over the vehicle. Not driving it i to a wall.

@MissJilianne Three ways to disengage. Two of them would have helped avoid the crash (brakes and steering). The third way must have been used, either accidentally, or in a panic that caused the driver to freeze up.

@MissJilianne Doesn't the auto pilot disengage automatically in certain circumstances? Is that why you have to always be ready to jump in? This looks like the auto pilot had no idea what to do and bailed out.

@MissJilianne it's still an FSD crash if it happens within 5s of disengagement.

@MissJilianne My concern in braking with FSD is the acceleration feeling that happens if you don’t apply the brake immediately at the same depth.

@MissJilianne Except the person didn’t slam on the brakes. In fact, I don’t even think they braked at all. It’s still unsupervised fsd if you don’t feel it’s going to do correct thing you can and should take over but they didn’t take over. They just disengaged and then did no breaking at all
