@12QuestionU @thattradgal I'll say it one more time, he yielded to church authority (it was dangerous not to), but he never fully accepted, in his heart, the inspiration of the Deuterocanonical Books, which he labeled the Apocrypha.

Question for my Protestant friends: Since the Bible was not compiled until after the death of Jesus and his apostles, and the Jews did not have a universally established canon at the time of Christ’s death, how do you know which books belong in the Bible?

@PaulDibartolo @thattradgal 402–407 AD: In Against Rufinus (Book II), Jerome defended including Deuterocanon additions to Dan by asking, “What sin have I committed in following the judgment of the churches?” He clarified that some stmts in his prefaces reflected Jewish views rather than strictly his own.

Scripture tells us that salvation comes by confessing with the mouth and believing in the heart. Additionally, while not acting on lust, lusting in the heart made you guilty. We are also told that a person was a Jew who was one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart—by the Spirit, not the letter. Jerome never changed his mind and submitted in his heart to the magisterium's demand that the Apocrpyha be accepted as infallibly inspired.

Mt 7:21-23 is referring to people that were never saved not people who were saved but didn’t have enough “works.” John the Baptist explained 1 Peter 3:21. Matthew 3:11 11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. BUT he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall BAPTIZE you WITH the HOLY GHOST, and with fire: THIS is why Jesus and his disciples didn’t physically baptize EVERYONE they saved. Some they saved, and moved on. Yet they were still SAVED. Col 1:24 is not making the point you think it is. You don’t know scripture. You know cherry picked verses and the talking points your Church teaches which is why people like you twist James 2 and use it to back up your salvation doctrine.

@PaulDibartolo @thattradgal Jerome has doubts/questions about the Deuterocanonical Books, but ultimately submitted to the judgment of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. That's why he's Saint Jerome.

@thattradgal FYI, there were important church figures that rejected certain books canonized by the majority. The Deuterocanonical Books were not accepted as infallibly inspired by the editor of the Latin Vulgate, and were included with a disclaimer.

I just did. Your salvation doctrine. Stop asking me to argue your position because you don’t know it. You pulled from James 2 to prove your salvation doctrine of “faith AND works” being necessary. I dismantled your argument straight from James 2 because you thought James was teaching HOW to be saved when he was actually teaching SAVED people HOW TO ACT. Pray for me my brothers and sisters. There's some sins that I struggle with that I need to overcome in my life. Need more willpower and more prayer.

@Ckmmrreb In OT there were 120 priests sounding trumpets when Ark of the Covenant (representing God's presence) brought into Solomon’s Temple (2 Chron 5:12). 120 is product of 12 (perfection/foundation) & 10 (divine order/completeness). Mary is the new Ark & the Church is the new temple.

@Ckmmrreb Most probably hoped for this day; not just Mary/apostles, but the "about 120" (Acts 1:15). Jews celebrate Shavuot/Feast of Weeks when Christians celebrate Pentecost. Shavuot marked wheat harvest & bringing of firstfruits to temple, but also giving of Law to Moses at Mt. Sinai⤵️

Since Pentecost is an old feast 50 days after the original Passover, do you think Mary and the Apostles in the Upper Room waiting knew the Spirit was going to be sent 50 days after the New Passover, or did He come by surprise?

Things that happen when you pray the Rosary!! 1. You fell asleep while praying the Rosary in bed. 2. You can't remember the mysteries, and you have to Google them. 3. You got distracted and lost count of how many Hail Mary's, you have said. 4. You left your rosary at home and have to count with your fingers. 5. You realize you are praying the wrong mysteries. 6. Someone told you ,praying then Rosary is boring and you want to believe them 7. You remember your favorite clothes that you haven't seen in a while and pause to search for it 8. You tried to plan your family's meal for the day,still trying to concentrate to pray your Rosary. 9. You remember what you did the other day, and it's making you lose focus 10. What did I miss, comment ,add yours, and how did you get past each one!? 🤷 Did you pray your Rosary today?. There is still plenty of time to do so 😉
