30 years after Rikidozan's peak was like 1987. He was far bigger in Japan than Hogan in the U.S. in 2017. Besides this argument isn't about fame, it was most influential, Hogan didn't create an industry, Hogan didn't at one time have seven or eight of the ten biggest TV ratings in history (Not wrestling, TV in general), his matches were never bigger culturally in the U.S. than the Super Bowl, did not essentially be a prime force in television becoming an instituion, nor did he train and groom cultural figures at the level of Baba & Inoki in Japan and Kim Ill in South Korea. 40 books, far more than that number in documentaries.
Jesse Inman@jesseinmanTV

@davemeltzerWON It’s your *opinion* that Rikidozan of the 50s/60s was a bigger icon than Hogan. Most would disagree I’d bet. My opinion: Compare each 30+ years after their peak. More NON-FANS knew Hulk Hogan. Thats your litmus test. Not nerds like us that breathe the artform.

I'll never understand why a wrestler would want to go back to a company that fired them twice. Is it Stockholm Syndrome? Did WWE drill it into their heads that wrestling anywhere else or in "bingo halls" a bad thing?

Dakota Kai was asked is she open for a WWE return: “I never want to burn bridges ever in any capacity.” “They always treated me good and gave me good opportunities. So, I mean who knows really..” (@ChrisVanVliet)

@AIRGold_ Total chaos and non substance. Too much. You could take one of the scenarios and draw it out a couple of months and being over as fuck and make money. Terrified Tony just doesn't know how to do that. It's TEW booking.

Swerve's booking since losing the AEW Championship: - Went on a side quest after losing the title where he wrestled Bobby Lashley and feuded with Ricochet. - Bobby beat Swerve, Swerve didn’t get his rematch, didn’t get revenge, and he was cool with that. - Finally got another world title shot against Mox on a two week build, lost, and then feuded with the Young Bucks. - After the Bucks, he went after Okada's Unified Championship. - DCF injured him in that match, but he later didn't seek revenge on them either. - Returned at Full Gear to save Hangman. - Hangman burnt his house down, injected him with a tranquilizer, made him go night night...but Swerve forgave him cause they had a talk. - Tagged with his mortal enemy for the first time ever. - Most Dangerous. Most Dangerous. Most Dangerous. - Became #1 contender for the AEW Championship after winning just one match where he beat a guy who never wins. - Got called Diddy by MJF. - Lost the world title match. - Lost to Andrade. - Got a TV feud with Kenny. - Turned heel. - Won 1. Lost 1. - He's not been seen since.

@AllEliteDoug21 None of you in the last 20 years get a masters in any form of knowledge in pro wrestling. Talent, promoters, fans. Everything works in cycles. 10 years ago death matches, today flippy floppy. It all comes back around and always does. All this arguing is pathetic.

The problem is you want a pass for your ignorance. You should know these people but you haven't been paying attention because they aren't in your company. WWE fans are in elementary school and AEW fans are getting their masters degree in pro wrestling knowledge.

@SkytelWrestling So you are saying a 31 year career and being respected by your peers gives a person no means to speak as an authority? Extreme ignorant thinking by anyone who believes that.

@JustinWhang The bad thing about the unintelligent is even if you try to correct them they have no ability to understand anything other than what they believe is right. Close minded maroons.

@JustinWhang That is why I say the Freebirds are the greatest stable of all time. They drew big time money in most places they went. Louisiana, Georgia, Texas (of course), Minnesota etc. Most people have no clue what it means to draw money.

Of all the wrestlers you could say “never drew a dime,” you pick Abdullah the Butcher, who wrestled everywhere in the word as a special attraction because he was such a big draw. They literally turned him into an anime cat
