Got my sc1425 now running 24/7. Its great, besides the only side effect of going deaf.

@BRM20_ @crankysysad But those are open standard protocols that big crops trying to kill off to wall garden users into their ecosystem. Without these standards the Internet will be a very different place.

@TomLawrenceTech It looks like it might be the yellow glue of death. You can see the glue on the screws starting to turn brown and become conductive. If they are over a trace or part on the PCB it may cause some shorts.

So another one of thee died, no beep, no post, just a green power light. I am trying to get an idea of just how many of these have died of the last year or two as it seems like a lot.

One week after the invasion of 🇺🇦, our members at starlinglab.org began building the digital evidence preservation pipeline alongside collaborators. On Friday the team submitted the 1st of many dossiers to the ICC documenting war crimes that targeted 5 schools in Kharkiv.

@allanpeda @nixcraft That video is full of misinformation. You need a firewall that can block inbound IPv6 traffic by default (most good ones do). Almost all devices today that use IPv6 have privacy extension that randomize the v6 address every time it connects or every few hours.

I hate that I enjoy server administration and nerdy things like that more than gaming...

@TomLawrenceTech For those saying using NATs and private IP space is security it's completely false. All you need is firewalls that do not allow inbound from the internet by default. Only reason we are using NAT on v4 is because of IP exhaustion or we will have routable IP on every computer.

@allanjude @TomLawrenceTech I had a similar issue with mine too where I need to disassemble it before I can move it into the basement. After reassembling it in the basement I almost went into a height issue there is like 1" left before hitting the ceiling.

@TomLawrenceTech When I got mine the problem was depth, it couldn't make the turn to get downstairs. It was like 37c outside that day, so we disassembled it in the landing (in the air conditioning) Then moved it into the basement bedroom (now server room) and reassembled it.

IPv4 prices going up. docs.hetzner.com/general/others… The gold rush has begun. It is just a matter of time before every cloud service provider will up their price. So what is holding you from using IPv6?
