I would like to extend a moment of memory and gratitude for Barney Clark, the work of drs. Jarvik & Devries, I thank you on behalf of all the additional people with AHF who survived and are living because of your efforts & courage! @StavrosDrakos @KevinShahMD @TomHanffMD

On this day in 1982, a team led by Dr. William C. DeVries implanted the Jarvik-7, the first artificial heart, into Barney Clark. Unfortunately, Clark spent his last 112 days in the hospital and suffered considerably from complications and discomfort. He died on March 23, 1983.
