And right now, that base is eroding in real time. While politicians argue over how to redistribute existing wealth, foreign adversaries are scaling physical manufacturing capacity as fast as they can. China is not debating redistribution. They are pouring concrete. Musk: “You can’t just legislate money and solve these things. If you don’t make stuff, there is no stuff.” You cannot legislate your way out of a production deficit. If the West does not accelerate its capacity to build the physical infrastructure of the AI transition, it hands the century to the nations that will. A society that forgets how to build doesn’t decline. It disappears.
