On this day 35 years ago I walked into the @WYFRS my first day as Fireman Phillips it was life changing & amazing. My first helmet pictured

Literally crying in the Target parking lot right now. 🧵 I was struggling with unloading my toddler, my bags and wrangling an unruly cart (seriously — why do some lack power-steering?) A fire truck from Redondo Beach (E61) had just parked nearby and four firefighters got out.

It is with deep regret the UFA announces the passing of retired Firefighter Lawrence T Murphy, Ladder 157, who succumbed to his World Trade Center-related illness on November 18, 2024. FF Murphy served our great department for 28 years.

Today we pay tribute to fire investigation dog Reqs, following his passing yesterday. Reqs, who retired in July 2023, was believed to have been one of Britain’s longest serving fire investigation dogs and is remembered as a dedicated and hard-working member of the team. 1/🧵

With deep regret, the UFA announces the passing of FF Thomas E. Ryan, Ladder 33, on Nov. 5, 2024, due to WTC-related illness. FF Ryan served for 21 years. Our condolences go out to his family, friends, and L33 colleagues.

The moral of this story is that, in democracies, power resides with the people - it is only ever temporarily lent to politicians. There is always another election or a term limit on the horizon. Your vote is powerful - use it and never let them take it for granted.

Incredibly, this is the people of Valencia - walking to the most affected areas to help - see just how long the queue is... It's not possible to get there by car - so they're on foot. Tirelessly helping the people affected.

Earlier this morning Janey passed away in her sleep. Her family were with her. The love and support from all her friends and fans during this cancer journey brought her enormous joy. It has also been a huge comfort to us, her family and close friends, thank you.
