@Loran_Dunn We had one of those - the funders ditched it. The issues are complex though - value for money in terms of the talent pipeline, acute unwillingness in the market place to give space to such films. Festival success or nothing. And even a festival doesn't translate into a future.

Said it before, will say it again, a debut doesn’t need to cost £3mil, even with rising costs. Give debut filmmakers a chance to demonstrate how innovative and creative they can be with limitations. We desperately need a micro budget fund that allows for risk taking.

@JFACasey This is also about how the industry spends its money. I worked in development for many years, only earning money from that. What I got paid 15 years ago to edit a script is what I get paid now. Ask the funders and broadcasters - has a script editor's fee gone up? The answer: NO

@HelenSimmons8 My big advice, work out which task you do best when. When to write/be creative? When to do the boring shit? When to muse and walk and not waste precious writing/admin time? Write everything down that you need to do. everything. Then when you do it you feel like a goddam badass.

@HelenSimmons8 I have a spreadsheet that filters projects and their subtasks by priority and what stage they’re at, so I only see what I’m actively working on, sorted by what’s most important or has the closest deadline, with things that are getting notes or out for submissions kept separate.
