In your personal and professional environments, it is commonly mislabeled as a productivity, laziness or motivation problem. It is NOT to be confused with deprioritisation. Deprioritisation is to deliberately delay tasks to a later time. When the time comes, you do them without putting them off. #appa #procrastination #brain

Appa Speak 💭 Thinking on the origins of my name... Part-1. Latin roots pro (prefix) means forward, forth, or in favor of. -crastinus (adjective) means of tomorrow. This comes from cras, the Latin word for tomorrow. When these joined in Latin, they formed the verb procrastinare, which literally translates to 'To put off until tomorrow.' Tired Tuesdays: On somedays, the procrastinator cannot gather the energy to do much work. Even when they get up to do something, the bed beckons again. The procrastinator's eyes droop, their back pains, their body is oh-so-tired. It's time for a nap, their brain says. The eyes agree, while looking regretfully at the pile of work staring at them. Monday Motivation This fine Monday, I'm not motivated to do the many mundane tasks that workplaces and households demand: admin forms data clean-up emails and calls resolving tickets chores, endless chores detailed documentation expense tracking, management ... I'd rather spend time on anything else that's more fun really but I'm paid to do some of these. The rest, I'll have to pay with my time. #appa #procrastination #brain

Thoughtful Thursday 🦦 Yesterday was otter day for the world and just an other day for the procrastinator in me. Today, as I catch up, I will remind myself that I can crack things with the rocks I sometimes feel in my brain. I am quite capable of covering myself in a dense fur of warmth when things get tough. Most importantly, when I need one, I can reach out to one other otter around me to hold on to... so I don't drift too far apart. #appa #procrastination #brain

Eating rules, lighting settings, wind down routines, best sleeping materials, fitness watches, temperature controls, locking up digital devices. Tired Tuesday: Body feels tired and stiff today. Mind is fresh and excited. I know what this means. I need to give more rest to the body so it can continue to deliver on the exercise, fitness and related mental well-being front. Let's see, a long shower, some stretching, good food, hydration, a nap, some deep breathing should do it. Maybe a massage tomorrow 💬 I can do focus work and challenging work with my mind while ensuring I'm taking enough breaks to relax my body. Have picked 4 important tasks for the day apart from the regular tasks. That's only because I believe I can push more today. #appa #procrastination #brain

Founder Fri: This week, our founders (and the team) have had two or three sleepless nights due to our ideal wishes, optimistic dreams, realistic stresses, high expectations from ourselves. We challenged ourselves to do what we say, which included taking many complex things on our plate and implementing them. We are not perfect. We don't wish to be. So our imperfect selves slept intermittently through our days and nights. Rest assured (literally and figuratively) we will also sleep over the weekend to cover up🩵🩷 #appa #procrastination #brain

Thoughtful Thursday: I thought a pull up was my goal. As I was weeks away from it, I got injured and gained a lot of weight post injury. It felt like the temporary end of the goal, a crash, a confusion, a big loss. 📉 In reality, I got a new responsibility: I learnt to take care of the injury, work on my weight, nutrition, despite suddenly low physical activity. It made me learn more about my human body and mind, about stress, self confidence and healing. 🤍 In time, this made me mentally resilient, physically stronger. It led to new, fun goals / routines / systems that I'd not even conceived of! Now my fitness goals look so big that a pull up seems easy and small in the scheme of things 🔬 #appa #procrastination #brain

Appa Speak 💭 A lot of times Procrastination is just us humans being slow to adapt to change. We expect a routine, a plan, a goal to work. But... Interruptions happen, different commitments come up, old people or places go away, new people or places have to be adjusted to. Sometimes we get a month, a week, a day, many times we only get 2 mins in the midst of a sudden change! What happens when we can't adjust fast enough?
