Last month, Jacklyn went to the Inuit community Kugluktuk in Nunavut to help implement the Kitikmeot Biting Insect Monitoring Program (K-BIMP) with Dani Nowosad. Jacklyn ran an event with the Hamlet of Kugluktuk summer camp to make science more accessible for Inuit Youth.

We've just finished our first week back in the lab! We are excited to see returning lab members Neha, Jacklyn, Sveta and Ijeoma, and welcome Jessica and Victoria to our lab! We are excited for a fun summer of research and the projects to come!

Our Manager, Dr. Bernhardt, hails from the west coast of Canada although she spent time at Stanford and Yale before landing with us at #UofG. She teaches, codes, supervises, and researches; and in 2022, she received the Early Career Award from the CSEE 🏆#WomeninSTEM #KillingIt

This week, the undergraduate thesis students presented their projects in the thesis course poster showcase! They did an amazing job and it was great to hear all about their exciting research plans!

I too am recruiting graduate students, postdocs, and a lab technician for my group at UChicago, starting fall 2024! We will be doing exciting work to uncover the limits of plant adaptation in changing environments.

Two postdocs joined the #CEM team! @AmandaCicchino is addressing how temperature variation can mediate or exacerbate organismal vulnerability to warming temperatures. Kayla focuses on how different types of species interactions interface to affect ecological systems across scales

Our director Dr. Kevin McCann co-authored a recent paper published in @PNASNews which takes an inverse approach to modelling food webs & ecosystem stability. This study examines the effect of biodiversity on ecosystem stability and natural responses to disturbances.
