‘I reject your premise. I reject your authority. I reject the premise of your moralizing. My first principles negate the basis of your argument. What is the best way that I can undermine your political project?’

I’m not a professional Kantian and maybe the philosophers can clean up what I’m saying a bit, but it seems to me that the big mistake that many midwits and actual smart people make is that they don’t have any intuitive feel or appreciation for the limits that human cognition and rational thought and empiric evidence butt up against. And so they end up indulging in all sorts of false promises and Rube Goldberg machines (like social psychology) that purport to be able to take us further than we can go, only to further mire us in confusion.
