SQL Functions Every Data Analyst Beginner MUST Know 1. AGGREGATE FUNCTIONS Turn many rows into one number: COUNT(*) → count rows SUM(sales) → total AVG(salary) → average MIN/MAX(price) → lowest/highest 2. STRING FUNCTIONS Clean & manipulate text: UPPER/LOWER(name) → change case TRIM(name) → remove spaces LENGTH(name) → count characters CONCAT(first, last) → join text SUBSTRING(name, 1, 3) → slice text REPLACE(col, 'old', 'new') → swap text 3. DATE FUNCTIONS Work with time data: NOW() → current timestamp YEAR/MONTH/DAY(date) → extract parts DATEDIFF(date1, date2) → days between DATE_FORMAT(date, '%Y-%m') → format it 4. CONDITIONAL FUNCTIONS Add logic to your queries: CASE WHEN salary > 5000 THEN 'High' ELSE 'Low' END COALESCE(col, 'default') → handle NULLs NULLIF(a, b) → return NULL if equal IIF(condition, true, false) 5. WINDOW FUNCTIONS The analyst’s superpower: ROW_NUMBER() → rank each row RANK() → rank with gaps DENSE_RANK() → rank no gaps LAG/LEAD(col) → previous/next row value SUM() OVER(PARTITION BY dept) → group totals without collapsing rows 6. GROUP BY + HAVING Aggregate + filter groups: GROUP BY department HAVING COUNT(*) > 5 ← filters AFTER grouping (WHERE filters BEFORE grouping) 7. JOINS (the most important) INNER JOIN → only matches LEFT JOIN → all left + matches RIGHT JOIN → all right + matches FULL JOIN → everything Pro tip: Master these in this order: SELECT → WHERE → GROUP BY → JOIN → CASE → Window Functions That’s the roadmap from beginner → job-ready analyst.

If your loved one is battling kidney disease, liver disease, or cancer. It's important to be mindful of their diet. Avoid feeding them., — Sodas — Juices — Energy drinks And even certain fruits like sweet, GMO, and seedless varieties. Steer clear of., — Sugar — Wheat — Rice — Modern maize flour — Irish potatoes And processed meats such as sausages and smokies. These foods can be detrimental to their health. Instead, encourage them to explore fasting options like OMAD (One Meal a Day) or 2MAD (Two Meals a Day). Depending on the type of cancer they are facing, such as stomach, colon, or liver cancer, they may benefit from consulting with a medical professional about taking Ivermectin or Fenbendazole. However, this should be strictly based on clinical assessment. Be the architect of your well-being and don't blindly trust modern hospitals, as they may prioritize corporate profits over patient care. Don't forget to reach out for a well-structured meal plan. Share and tag your friends.

How graduate trainee recruitment works and why some applications don’t progress: 1. Not meeting one or more minimum job requirements. Most graduate programmes have strict eligibility criteria such as graduation year, location, work authorization, qualification, GPA, or years of experience. If even one criterion isn’t met, the system automatically flags the application. 2. High application volume. With thousands of applicants and limited slots, we must narrow down candidates to those who best align with the programme’s objectives. Sometimes even strong candidates don’t make it simply because of how competitive the process is. 3. Automated ATS (Applicant Tracking System) screening. Like many global organisations, we use an ATS platform for initial screening. This ensures fairness, consistency, and efficiency by shortlisting candidates based on predefined criteria such as keywords, qualifications, and role alignment. 4. Competitive benchmarking. After ATS screening, remaining candidates are further shortlisted based on a combination of role-specific and programme-wide criteria. This helps identify the best fit for the next stage of the process. Graduate programmes are extremely competitive, and sometimes the difference between applicants is minimal. Credit: Edijana Udosen
