In the early 70s, those all dayers at the Crystal Palace Bowl were always an eclectic bill. I went to quite a few. I recall two of my favourite albums at the time were Roxy Music's 1st and the debut of Loggins & Messina. Incredibly, they were the opening acts in 1972.

🔥 #OnThisDay in 1936, the Crystal Palace was destroyed by fire. Reports from the time recall a wailing, groaning sound from within the structure, as wind fanned the flames through the pipes of the great Handel organ. A mournful musical lament for the end of an era.

With the amazing Crystal Palace Subway in @openhouselondon this weekend, did you know the Bowl isn’t the only spot at the Palace with musical history? The Subway hosted community festivals in the 1980s, illegal raves in the 90s, and was location for @ChemBros Setting Sun video!

🔈Great to see repairs completed to the north speaker tower at the Bowl, after the full-height door blew off during winter storms. The door has been securely reattached and the old spotlights removed, returning to its original sculptural appearance for the first time in 20 years.
