Magruder advances to the 3A state chip after an incredible comeback win vs 8 seed Frederick. Magruder trailed 54-51 with 4.5 seconds left with a sidelines out of bounds. Sophomore Alan Burt hits the corner three at the buzzer and Magruder goes on to win in OT. Congrats to Dan Harwood and Magruder who will be making their first state championship appearance since 2013 when they lost to Eleanor Roosevelt 61-56. They won the 4A title in 2012. Harwood also won a 4A state title in 2001.

Congrats to senior Jonah Wertlieb and junior Zeke Dabbondanza on their accomplishments! Jonah made 1st team all-division and 3rd team all-county while Zeke made 1st team all-division, 2nd team all-county, and 1st team all division. Great individual seasons,now on to the playoffs!

Such a loss for the community and local athletes. Being All-Met was the highest accolade a local athlete could attain.

I was a part of the @PostSports layoffs this morning. Working for the paper I grew up adoring was a dream for me. Grateful for all of the local athletes and teams I’ve gotten the privilege to cover these last five years and for all the friends I’ve made as a preps reporter.

With such a rich local sports history and the number of professional, local college, and HS teams we have, the area is really losing something special. I hope the many talented writers land on their feet quickly.

Incredibly sad the @washingtonpost is closing their sports department. As someone who likes to read, but not necessarily read books, this is a major blow. Growing up I would always read the sports page (after my dad was done with it), and now I read online every day.
