For 30 days, we chose patience over impulse, compassion over indifference, and faith over fear, and reminded that true strength lies not just in abstaining, but in becoming: more mindful, more generous, more humane. May the lessons of Ramadan not end with the fast, but live on in how we serve, how we give, and how we stand for one another. At Connected Development, we are inspired by the spirit of Ramadan, a spirit that calls us to accountability, empathy, and action for the common good. May the light of this Eid fill your hearts with peace, your homes with joy, and your lives with renewed purpose. Eid Mubarak. 🤍🌙 #EidMubarak #EidAlFitr2026 #Sallah2026 #RamadanReflections #AccountabilityForAll

At Connected Development (CODE), we don’t just believe in change, we invest in it. This Women’s Month, we’re embracing the power of #GiveToGain, because when we give girls knowledge, dignity, and opportunity, they rise… and they carry their communities with them. This is what giving looks like. This is what real impact feels like. Invest in a girl, and you ignite confidence. You amplify her voice. You unlock a future filled with possibility. Because when girls rise, we all rise. 💜 #InHerBalance #IlimantarDaDukYanMata #EducateGirls #GirlChildEducation #GirlsEducation

What can society give, so women can gain? At Connected Development [CODE], our work across communities continues to show that when women have access to opportunity, voice, and leadership, communities grow stronger and development becomes more inclusive. Women are not just beneficiaries of development, they are drivers of accountability, progress, and sustainable change. So this International Women’s Day, we asked a simple question: What can men and society give so women can gain? Because when women gain opportunity, representation, respect, and voice, societies gain progress, justice, and stronger governance. Please, watch this video in commemoration of #IWD and complete this sentence in the comments: “I give ______ so she can gain ______.” Happy International Women’s Day 2026 🎉 #IWD2026 #GiveToGain #GenderEquality #InclusiveDevelopment #ConnectedDevelopment

“In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, it is essential for development practices to adapt accordingly.” During Connected Development [CODE]’s February Skillshare session, our team examined the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in creating social impact, enhancing our understanding of AI's capabilities, limitations, and responsible utilization within our local context. The session covered topics such as prompt engineering and data privacy, with a focus on applying AI thoughtfully to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in our community work. As global discussions regarding AI influence development policies, we are committed to ensuring our team is equipped to deploy these tools ethically and effectively, thereby generating impact that is both locally relevant and globally informed. #CODErs #PeopleOfCODE #Skillshare #AI

“When education budgets are not gender-responsive or transparently implemented, girls pay the price, through dropouts, weak retention, and limited transition opportunities.” At the high-level engagement with senior administrators from Borno State, the Acting Chief Executive of Connected Development [CODE], Hyeladzira Mshelia, underscored the urgency of strengthening institutional accountability within Local Government education systems. Watch highlights from the media report by Sagir Ibrahim of @NewsCentralTV covering the workshop and the commitments made by local leaders to move from policy rhetoric to implementation. 🎥 Watch here: lnkd.in/djgmDCkS #ConnectedDevMediaVoices #EducateGirls #EducationReform

Across many parts of the world, including northern Nigeria, girls continue to face systemic barriers to accessing and completing quality education. Addressing these barriers requires accountable systems, equitable budgeting, and data-driven planning at the level of government closest to communities. Against this backdrop, Connected Development [CODE], with support from @MalalaFund , convened senior administrators from Borno State to advance Gender-Responsive Education Sector Planning (GRESP) and institutionalize transparency and accountability in education financing at the grassroots level. Speaking at the engagement, Hyeladzira James Mshelia, Acting Chief Executive of Connected Development, emphasized that “Gender-responsive planning ensures that education budgets intentionally address the real barriers facing girls, from access to retention and transition. The workshop focused on strengthening Local Education Sector Operational Plans (LESOPs) as practical governance tool, while aligning local budgets with gender equity priorities, improving oversight of education funds, and embedding transparency mechanisms within Local Government systems. When local institutions operate transparently and collaboratively, girls are better protected within education systems. #EducateGirls #EducationReform #EducationForAll #JAG

“Language is not a barrier. It is the starting point.” At Connected Development (CODE), we’ve seen what happens when children learn in the language they understand, confidence rises, identity is protected, and potential is unlocked. Through our Learn2Read project in Bauchi and Sokoto, we promoted mother tongue learning for young pupils because education should sound like home. This poem by Abdulmalik Yahya is a reminder: No child should feel left behind because of the language they speak. #MotherTongue #Learn2Read #MultilingualEducation #EducationForAll

As Connected Development [CODE] commemorate the World Day of Social Justice, we are reminded that education is not charity, it is justice. In our latest blog by Abdulmalik Yahya, we explore why girls’ schooling is the frontline of equality. When girls are denied access to quality education, inequality deepens. But when girls stay in school, communities prosper, economies grow, and democracy strengthens. Social justice demands more than promises. It requires transparent education budgets, safe learning spaces, and policies that keep every girl in school.
