Watching HS basketball played with a shot clock is literally a different game. Much higher scoring. More urgency. Much quicker getting into things. It’s a BETTER game. The real game.

No shot clock in HS basketball in some states is absolute chaos. NJ state final games are in the 30’s. This is not real basketball. No league in the world operates like this.

If you never beat your defender… he’ll pressure you all game. Touch the paint early. Everything changes. #HoopStudy

Most Players quit the weight room because the results don’t show up right away. Strength. Speed. Explosion. It all takes time. 3 days a week minimum. 5 if you’re serious. Don’t skip days. Don’t rush the process. Push through long enough, you’ll be exactly where you need to be.

@hoopstudy Development System - Phase 3: Variability. 👀👇 In games, the decision rarely comes early. It happens late. This drill trains players to attack thinking shot first… but stay ready to react at the last second. #HoopStudy

Kyrie Irving x @hoopstudy Development System Phase 2: Framework drill This is where most young guards struggle. Specifically in tight spaces. Elite Guards? • They stay fast. • They stay low. • They stay in control. Try it out 🤝 #HoopStudy

What appears to be a huge set back can actually be your launching pad! 2014 changed everything. I left my college coaching job and moved to NYC while I was engaged, planning to land another college position. In the meantime, I started training players at a gym on Long Island — and I fell in love with it. Clients started coming in fast, and I approached it the only way I knew how: do whatever you can to provide value. I built them a new website. Helped frame and hang drywall for a coaches locker room even though I had no clue what I was doing. I just figured it out as I went. To make ends meet, I drove more than 2 hours north a few times a week to run workouts. It was exhausting, but I didn’t have a choice. I was getting married and needed to provide. Then out of nowhere, I got fired. I had done nothing wrong. They assumed I was going to take clients and leave. Just like that — less than 3 months before my wedding — I didn’t have a job. I was scared. Thankfully, @djsackmann helped me out. He didn’t need me full time yet, but he knew he would eventually, so he gave me an opportunity when I needed it most. I started driving all over New York. Flying to Minnesota to run camps. Training pros wherever I could. People have asked me for years how I had the courage to go out on my own. I always laugh and say: “I didn’t have a choice. I got fired.” 11 years later: • 200+ professional athletes • 40,000+ players • Incredible friendships • Experiences I never could have planned Thank God I got fired. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. 💯

The defender isn’t reading your move. They’re reading your rhythm. Control tempo. Control space. Control the possession. 👀👇 #HoopStudy

@hoopstudy Phase 2: Framework. Most high school players can shoot. Few can shoot with momentum. Don’t stop in space. Catch through the movement. That’s the difference between getting a shot off… and getting it blocked.

Comment LEVEL 1 👇 Most players attack the rim with one plan. Elite scorers attack with options. If the defender’s shoulder tilts to block your inside finish, adjust late and score opposite side. They can’t redirect in time. One option gets blocked. Two options get buckets.

HDS Phase 3: Variability The skill isn’t the move. It’s the patience. If you rush, you eliminate options. If you control pace, you create them. #HoopStudy

Great story unfolding in the NJAC: Montclair State is 24-0, ranked No. 1 in D-3, and lighting up the scoreboard like a video game. A former Rutgers walk-on is leading the way. “The most fun I’ve had in my life playing basketball.” app.com/story/sports/c… via @asburyparkpress
