This is excellent. Good to know that Allan Massie thought A Question of Loyalties his best. It made a big impression on me when I read it (on holiday in France) more than 30 years ago. Sounds like there’s a lot more to read, such as the Bordeaux Quartet

ps. unfortunately, rather than reversing the policies which have caused the problems in the first place, he is layering another clumsy state intervention on top. This will distort the labour market even further, with more unintended but entirely predictable consequences.

I am delighted at the news today that Minister for Defence @HMcEntee has brought proposals to cabinet for military attachés to be appointed to the Irish embassies in Paris, London and Washington DC.
