That the Kremlin and USG are both interfering in Hungary to get the corrupt and divisive Orban govt reelected should serve as a warning. Trump and Putin are intent on weakening European unity and support for Ukraine. British, French and German elections will be targeted likewise.

Too many people feel unrepresented in politics today. With @Prosper_UK_ we are building a practical, pro-growth, centre-right policy offer. Reform exploit frustration & offer slogans - not solutions. That’s not how you fix Birmingham or the UK. birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-…

"Attempts in Western countries to circumscribe the Islamic way of life almost always end up doing the same to Jews." There are a lot of people either brainwashed or very stupid who do not realise this. And some very malicious folk. Take your pick jewishnews.co.uk/voice-of-the-j…

Welcome to councillor Dean Field, joining the Conservatives from the Lib Dems. He’s the second Buckinghamshire Council councillor to join the Conservatives in just a couple of months. 💪 Great leadership from @BroadbentSb and his team.

This is excellent. Good to know that Allan Massie thought A Question of Loyalties his best. It made a big impression on me when I read it (on holiday in France) more than 30 years ago. Sounds like there’s a lot more to read, such as the Bordeaux Quartet
The Critic@TheCriticMag

Allan Massie wrote more than 3,000 reviews, 25 novels, and some of the finest historical fiction of the post-war era, yet he never quite received the recognition he deserved, writes @HenryGJeffreys thecritic.co.uk/profile-allan-…

ps. unfortunately, rather than reversing the policies which have caused the problems in the first place, he is layering another clumsy state intervention on top. This will distort the labour market even further, with more unintended but entirely predictable consequences.

For years Ukraine tried to warn the world about russia, about disinformation, and about how war itself was changing. Many leaders brushed it aside. Now the same countries are asking Ukraine for help. Tonight, I sit down with President Zelenskyy. 7PM ET 🔥

No one bought into the post-Cold War promise of globalisation and peace more than Britain. It was a high-reward strategy, bearing high risks if and when the music stopped. Now we must adapt more quickly than our peers. It won't be cheap, but the costs of inaction are greater.
Deborah Haynes@haynesdeborah

With calls growing for @Keir_Starmer to accelerate plans to rebuild the UK’s armed forces, we tracked our military shrinkage from 1983 (a year after UK forces seized back the Falklands from Argentina) to now. Personnel numbers are down by almost two thirds news.sky.com/story/uk-must-…

If desalination plants are considered legitimate targets it could have very severe consequences throughout the region. Also the Gulf countries are very dependent.
Kourosh Ziabari@KZiabari

A US-Israeli airstrike has destroyed the desalination plant in Qeshm Island, southern #Iran, severing the residents' access to freshwater. A war in which passenger planes and industrial facilities are the target is simply a confused war of destruction that the world cannot ignore

It’s being said a lot that the shadow of Iraq is hanging over Keir Starmer and the Labour Party during this Iran crisis. It absolutely should. What’s remarkable is how little much of the British media and the rest of politics seem to be thinking about it at all, or learning its lessons. Those lessons are far deeper and broader than the danger of boots on the ground.

I am delighted at the news today that Minister for Defence @HMcEntee has brought proposals to cabinet for military attachés to be appointed to the Irish embassies in Paris, London and Washington DC. Military people speak to military people in a military way, and today’s announcement is particularly welcome in light of a rapidly changing global security situation. This is something that I have been calling for at the Committee on National Security and Defence for some time, and I look forward to the development of this pilot programme. #militaryattaches #military #nationalsecurity #nationaldefence
