Very sad indeed to hear of the death of Sir Kenneth Grange. My absolute hero. Giving thanks for his redesign of the Kenwood Chef food mixer which forms a crucial strand of my PhD. His approach to design has been a huge inspiration.

@FernRiddell I’m writing up my PhD on the Kenwood Chef food mixer. One of my strands of enquiry concerns the female demonstrators who sold the Chef to postwar consumers. Might be outside yr timeline but it’s an intriguing addition to women’s labour histories.

Grilled sardines at one of the many fish restaurants at the port of Matosinhos - the air in the streets here filled with the tempting smell of fish cooked over charcoal . . . They tasted as good as they looked!

The way I'm cringing reading an early draft of one of my PhD chapters 😂 But that baby was a stepping stone to what is becoming my fully formed thesis. I don't have long left of this journey, but I feel so motivated and I'm enjoying it so much. Let's get this PhD finished 💪
