A couple of observations from today’s protest.
There wasn’t any audible profanity coming from the protesters— but it was on a few signs. A guy in a truck was yelling f-you at us. I yelled God bless you. Others yelled we love you & peace. Every Phx bus driver honked & waved.⬇️

@DifferentUnity It seems there are so many techniques used to manipulate, i.e., for others to "get pulled in", to the vortex of these people. Not least, "snitching", "telling tales", or not whistleblowing, being a toxic, unwritten code, often found in churches even, used to shame into silence.

Interesting language. Years ago I tried to name this pattern: “victim/bully.” It flips back and forth, two sides of the same coin. Hard to spot in real time, but once you see it, you can avoid getting pulled in. #StopTakers

@DifferentUnity In Gary Thomas' book, "When to Walk Away: Finding Freedom from Toxic People", he points out there are 31 references in the NT to Jesus walking away from, rather than trying to save, situations or people. Others see trying to deal with narcissists as being trapped in "sunk costs".

Happy birthday to Fr. Bernard McIlhenny, SJ, who turns 100 today! Fr. McIlhenny has been in Scranton almost as long as he’s been a Jesuit priest—70 years. He arrived in 1958 as Headmaster of Scranton Prep, then served in admissions at The University of Scranton for 31 years.

My favorite bedding is this quilt made for me by the late Bessie Johnson of Leflore County, Mississippi some 40 years ago.
She was a family friend of my grandparents.
Those good Southern country folks always showed me love, and their impact on who I am today is immeasurable.
