In 2024, during the Finance Bill protests, Kenyans did something that many thought was impossible we became one.
No tribe.
No party.
No appointed leaders.
Just a country speaking in one voice. And that unity terrified William Ruto.
Here’s a leader who relied on money, state machinery, media influence, and brute force to control the narrative, suddenly facing something beyond his control: a united, unbreakable people.
When he couldn't break this unity head-on, he resorted to the oldest, dirtiest weapon in the book tribalism.
He started with the Kikuyu, whispering hate through coded language and subtle incitement. But Kenyans shut it down immediately “we are all Kikuyus.” That pathetic script collapsed like a house of cards.
Then he tried pitting Luo against Kikuyu, pumping resources and pushing divisive narratives, hoping to ignite conflict. Newsflash: those communities are so tightly woven together by marriage, business, and daily interactions that his division scheme failed spectacularly.
Next, he tried Kikuyu versus Somali. Failed. Tried Kenya versus Mt. Kenya. Failed again. Tried isolating Mt. Kenya, painting them as the nation’s problem? Failure. Every single attempt to divide was crushed because Kenyans simply refused to be programmed.
Let’s call it what it is: tribalism today is not some grassroots movement.
It’s a poison injected from the top, pushed by leaders desperate to cling to power. And when their toxic game backfires, these clowns turn around and blame the opposition especially Rigathi Gachagua as if that’s some clever trick. It’s nothing but deception.
You cannot preach division, fund division, try to fabricate division, and then suddenly play the victim. Kenya’s problem isn’t tribal; it’s leadership.
A leadership terrified of unity because unity exposes their failure. A leadership that fuels division to buy time. A leadership that points fingers to dodge responsibility.
2024 made it clear: Kenyans are miles ahead of their so-called leaders. But if we forget that, if we let ourselves be divided once more, then we won’t just be victims we’ll be willing accomplices in our own manipulation. Wake the hell up.
